Share ideasworth spreading!
That is the objective of TED and TEDx conferences. The talks presented during these events are broadcasted for free on the Internet towards billions of people, willing to understand and change the world we are living in.
What is TED ?
TED (technology, Entertainment, Design), were created in 1984 in California, USA. It is a 4 days event taking place once a year in Vancouver, Canada. The « Talks » cover a large panel of topics such as sciences, arts, innovation, entrepreneurship, initiatives or architecture and design, all with one goal: « sharing ideas worth spreading ».
The concept is simple: It is question for the « speaker » to share his vision of the world, his experience or scientific discovery in a maximum of 18 minutes, in order to build a future in common and propose another alternative of life.
Therefore, Bill Gates, Philippe Starck, Bono, the primatologist Jane Goodall, Al Gore, to name a few, already got up on stage to share « ideas worth spreading » with the world. Known or less known yet, these figures convey ambitions and projects that are both innovative and humanistic.
Objective: to inspire, motivate, and open public mind.
What about TEDx(x for independently organized)?
Since 2009, the concept of TED traveled and gave the opportunity to independent organizers to get licensed for the organization of TEDx talks. The Sapling foundation, organizer of TED Conferences, established a list of criteria that independent organizers must fulfill to obtain the license. Each TEDx event is independent, with its own identity, topic and unique content imagined by passioned organizers.
Nowadays, it is more than 3800 conferences that are organized in the world each year, over 170 different countries; it represents 10 conferences a day!
140 000 conferences are broadcasted for free on TEDx Talks channel, with over 22 million followers!
